Santa and the North Pole Breakfast
Last year we started a new tradition in our home. We already had that oh so famous elf f, but I decided to turn his return into a special North Pole Breakfast. My daughter is already talking about it this year and keeps asking when the elf is cooking breakfast again.
We had doughnuts topped with powdered sugar, cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate, and strawberry Santa hats. Everyone also got a pair of holiday socks and a few little goodies. I had everything set up and realized that I had lost the elf. By the time I realized that the elf was MIA most stores were closed, but our midnight quest to find a new elf was successful. The next morning at breakfast my daughter squealed and went to go get the stockings to hang up. Inside one of them was the missing elf. Thankfully, some quick thinking and fast talking convinced her that the two elves were playing hide and seek when we woke up.
Here's another little freebie for you. It's a template for writing a letter to Santa. Just click the picture and enjoy!
I also want to remind everyone that I'm having a big sale over at Teachers Pay Teachers. Please stop by and check out some of my other resources for your classroom.
As always, I appreciate your visit. Thanks for reading my blog post.

Gobble, gobble, big fat bird....Have you heard?
Gobble, gobble, big fat bird
Turkey, pie, and maybe ale
What have you heard?
It's nearly time for a great big sale!
Black Friday crowds aren't for me. You won't find me pushing through the crowds. I'll enjoy my family and then go to my computer. My work will be easy because I'm stocking up on tons of materials to teach these new standards.
A great product can save you tons of time and can make learning fun. I'm browsing for all sorts of products, especially those that align with the Common Core Standards that we transitioned to this year. If your looking for some Common Core materials too, let me suggest the newest centers that I've been working on this week.
It's Sledding Time covers time to the hour and half hour. I love it when my students can read the clock and don't have to ask me what time it is. It's such an important life skill and with digital clocks being prevalent I want to give them all the practice they can get on analog clocks.
Missing Mittens covers solving for an unknown number in addition and subtraction equations. My students always seem to find this skill to be a bit more challenging than just solving the problem. So, I'm building in extra practice this year and I know they are going to love it.
Snowball Sums focuses on addition with sums of up to 20. Students need to be fluent with addition and that means lots and lots of practice. This center is cheerful, colorful, and fun. It's right up my students' alley.
Someplace Snowy covers place value with base ten blocks for two digit numbers. We covered this at the start of the year, but I like to keep it fresh in their minds. Plus this is great for those students who read numbers backwards.
Penguin Parade is all about comparing numbers using greater than and less than signs. Students grab to number cards, place them on the mat, and then pick a sign card to use to correctly compare them. A recording sheet lets you check their learning.
Have a happy Thanksgiving! I'm off to go check out all the great sales. You can too by clicking on the button above. It will take you to the linky party.

December Centers & a Freebie For You
Turkey time is nearly here and Santa's on his way! I don't know how it is in your home, but time seems to be flying here. I'm enjoying my break and have been busy preparing activities for December and January. So far I've created four new centers for my students to use this winter. If you want to check one out just click on the picture and don't forget to grab your freebie while your here.

Penguin Parade focuses on comparing numbers from 1-100 using the greater than, less than, and equal to signs. Number sense is such an important skill that I like my students to continue practicing it throughout the year.
I'm also planning to break out this fun freebie I made last year. Gingerbread Cover Up is a partner game focusing on addition with sums to 12. More practice means better fluency. So, I cover the basic math facts as often as I can. My students last year loved playing it and I know my students this year will too. Just click on the picture to grab your copy.
As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you will be back again.

Sledding, Santa's Sleigh, and Math
This weekend has been super busy, but so much fun. I've just finished a new product, It's Sledding Time, and I'm thrilled with how it came out. All of the hours and half hours are covered with matching cards for digital and analog clocks. It can be used independently, played as a concentration style game, or used with a pocket chart. There are three different worksheets (hours, half hours, and both) with keys. My students are going to love it. You can check it out at my TPT store.
I've also included a freebie in today's post. Just click the picture. This game just requires you to print the worksheet out and add dice. It's practically no prep! Students roll two dice and add it up. The person with the highest sum colors their sled or a reindeer on Santa's sled. The winner is the person who finishes their sled first. It can easily be differentiated by giving more advanced groups three or four dice to add or by giving them dice that have just the numbers and no dots on them.

300 Follower Giveaway!!!
I am going to try and climb back out of hibernation. Seriously, I've been a fairly pathetic blogger lately. However, it's been for a good reason. I am expecting a second little bundle of joy! Between the first trimester fatigue, morning sickness, and normal back to school chaos I've barely had the energy to stay awake till dinner time.
Anyway, I am excited to be back on my blog and I am thrilled to see that Grade School Giggles has crossed the 300 follower mark. Just like I had said way back when....I am hosting a giveaway. Check out these fabulous prizes and then see below for the details on how to enter.
