Product Swap

MrsStanfordsClass

Today is the big Product Swap day. I swapped my Sweet Tweet Math Centers. You can read about it over at Journey of a Substitute Teacher. You can read about her Zebra Math Word Pack right here.
MsT3

At the moment I am only teaching math in my classroom. (I am co-teaching reading/language arts, but not in my room). So, I've been into all things math related. That's why I was excited by the Zebra Math Word Pack from Tanja over at Journey of a Substitute Teacher. It is super cute and requires very little cutting, which is a huge plus when you are trying to set up your classroom.

The set includes posters for the numbers 0 through 10 with the numbers and words.

It also includes shape posters for square, circle, octagon, hexagon, rectangle, triangle, oval, and pentagon.

Several math words are also included. Specifically, it includes smaller cards (1/2 sheets) for less than, greater than, divide, multiply, subtraction, minus, sum, equal, plus, and addition.

I am hot gluing the shapes and number cards around my math bulletin board. My youngest learners can use them as a reference. I think this product is suited for the pre-k to first grade classrooms.

As always, thanks for stopping by my blog.

Freebies for Nouns

Today's been a productive but full day. Those are my favorite type. So, I thought I would share some noun freebies from my old blog Fun 2Bin First.

First up are some noun posters I made. These were used as anchor charts for my students to refer to throughout our lessons on nouns. You can grab them by clicking on the pictures.

I also made some sort activities. You can just do the common nouns or the proper nouns. You can also set them both out together and use all the cards to practice distinguishing between common and proper nouns while reviewing that nouns are people, places, animals, and things. You can grab it as a freebie. Just click here or on the pictures.

Free Word Ladder

I've been without internet and I've missed ya'll. Right now I'm sitting at McDonald's eating an ice cream just so I can write this post. So, it's going to be a short one.

I thought I would share some word ladders I made last year with ya'll. If you haven't used word ladders before, they are a type of puzzle that consists of a chain of words that change by one letter each time.

This set of word ladders focuses on short vowel CVC words and would work for kindergarten or early first grade. I made different levels of each word ladder to allow for easy differentiation. You can grab them by clicking on one of the pictures below.

I also wrote a guest post over at Teach The Math today with a fun little math freebie. Stop by Teach the Math and grab it too. It's a lot of fun.

Last Days of Summer (Linky and a Freebie)

I officially go back to work on Wednesday. Yep, the teachers go back in July. They kids come back on August 1st. I've got a ton to do before then, especially since my own little pumpkin will be starting kindergarten this year. I'm also joining up with the To Do Linky Party going on over at Fabulous Fourth Grade Froggies, because I've got to get myself in gear for pre-planning.
Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies
This year we have a whole week of pre-planning. I'm loving that! Hopefully, I can get everything I want to do done. Here is my list. (Psst...I'm sharing a freebie with y'all at the bottom of this post. So don't forget to check it out.)
I promised y'all a freebie. Here it is. There are two blank to do lists for you here. Just print them out and write your own list. Good luck getting it all done. The start of the school year is always overwhelming for teachers, but somehow we always seem to get it done before our students walk in that first day.
As always, thanks for stopping by and reading this post. I heart comments and followers make my day. Thanks!

Some Kind of Crazy

Some kind of crazy. That describes my life right now. It's not even dinner time yet and I've been to a movie, out to eat, to a crafting class, finished a product, added another binder cover, and made a project for my classroom. Really, I'm not sure what happened because I'm never that productive. Oh, I am babysitting today too. Yeah, it's crazy around here.

First up are the freebie circus themed binder covers that were requested. Just click on the picture.

I'm also excited to share my project with you. Today, I made dividers for my bookshelf. I want to store the books I read aloud by the month when I plan to use them. The problem is that it's hard to keep them all organized on my shelves when I'm in a rush. Our media specialist uses paint stirrers to help the kids put their books back correctly on the shelf when they are picking out books and that gave me an idea.

Home Depot was super sweet and gave me the paint stirrers. I used some spray paint to paint them white. Then, I used some paint pens to add details. I labeled the first set with months, but I plan to make more with other labels too. I love it when I can organize without spending a fortune. Score!

Oh, I told you that I finished a product today too. It's my Graphing Through The Month unit for May. It's aligned to the Common Core Standards for first grade, but it would be suitable for k-2 classrooms. The first comment gets it free...just be sure you include your email. If you want to check it out just click on the picture.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this post. As always, I love comments!

Beach and Owl Theme Classroom Packs And A Freebie

Today is the day that my school's building is accessible and teachers can get back into their rooms. I almost went in today, but I am trying to get some stuff done around the house and I still need to do some shopping before I go set up my classroom. I think I'll do the shopping tomorrow and work in the classroom later this week. I promise I'll post some pictures when I get my room set up.

Anyhow, I've been busy creating my classroom packs in two more themes. So far, I've finished 3 themes. Click on the picture if you learn more about them.

I've also been sharing the editable substitute binder for each theme as a freebie. The substitute binders are almost 20 pages long and can be edited. You can read a guest post I wrote over at Journey of a Substitute Teacher about how mine keeps me prepared for any last minute emergencies or other absences. You can snag one by clicking on the substitute binder cover.

As always, thanks for taking the time out of your day to come visit Grade School Giggles. Comments make my day & I would love to hear from you.

Apple Theme

The summer is flying by at a rapid speed. Yikes! Even though I will miss the time off, I'm excited to be going back to a job I love. So, I've been thinking about setting up and organizing my classroom. Since I can't get in the building yet, I've been working on things I can do at home.

I've been busy creating a Back to School Apple Themed Classroom Pack for my TPT store.  (I've included a big freebie from this pack at the bottom of this post.)

This is a monster pack of over 140 pages and many of them can be edited with your information. You can check it out if you'd like. I haven't decided what my classroom theme will be. So I will be creating this pack in other themes too.If you have one in mind let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I promised ya'll a freebie from the pack. I wanted to make the freebie something that I hope will be really useful for you. So, I'm sharing the Editable Substitute Binder from the pack. It's almost 20 pages and will really help you get your classroom substitute ready. You can read a guest post I wrote over at Journey of a Substitute Teacher about how mine keeps me prepared for any last minute emergencies or other absences. Just click the picture to get your free copy from my TPT store.
As always, thanks for taking the time out of your day to come visit Grade School Giggles. Comments make my day & I would love to hear from you.

Watermelon Bump

Super sweet, juicy, ripe watermelon is one of my favorite things about summer. I've been eating a ton of it. Anyway, it reminded me that I had made a watermelon themed math game to share with you.
It's Bump. Bump is played by rolling two dice and adding them together. The player covers the sum on the board & can bump the other player off if it is already covered. Directions are included in the game. My kids love it because it's fun and I love it because they are building fluency. Win-win! Just click on the picture to grab you own copy.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by Grade School Giggles and read this post. I'd love to hear from you if you have any questions or comments. See you soon!

Free Reward Charts

Students thrive on encouragement. Young children naturally want to meet the goals we set for them They love being able to see their progress toward a goal.
Reward charts are great because they let students see their own progress toward a goal, but they get expensive when your students go through them quickly. So, I've made some free reward charts. I hope that one of them will work for you. Just click below on the picture of the ones you want  to download.
